Behold The 2000bhp, 220mph Toyota 'Land Speed Cruiser'

Toyota has revealed an enormously powerful, heavily-modified Land Cruiser at SEMA in Las Vegas

Toyota is no stranger to the world of utterly bonkers SEMA concepts. After all, this is the company that stretched a Tundra at last year’s show to create a limo, and this year the manufacturer has delivered the goods once again.

It’s brought no less than six concepts, and the maddest of the sextet is easily the ‘Land Speed Cruiser’. To create it, Toyota took a Land Cruiser, heavily modified the chassis in some way (the only clue is the line about “getting the body back onto the heavily modified frame” in the press release), and added a pair of “volleyball-sized” Garrett turbochargers to the ‘3UR-FE’ 5.7-liter V8, fed by some beefy new air inlets at the front.

It’d be an understatement to label the results as ‘dramatic’ frankly, as it now develops in excess of 2000bhp. It’s apparently capable of 220mph too, which means it’s “set to become [the] world’s fastest SUV”. Sorry Bentley.
